Church Dance 2009
Friday, November 6th, 200980th ANNIVERSARY JUBILEE CHURCH DANCE

The evening of Friday, October 30th, 2009 marked an important milestone in the history of our church as we celebrated our 80th Anniversary at a lavish dinner dance at the Rex Manor. We enjoyed a sumptuous cocktail hour and full-course dinner and danced to live Greek music. The choir led the guests in the singing of the American and Greek national anthems. Many leading members of the church, including past presidents, Archons, present and past Parish Council members and leaders of different organizations were honored and awarded certificates. A Grand Raffle drawing was held, and the lucky winner of the grand prize of $1,000 was Spiros Galiatsatos.
Father Eugene Pappas expounded eloquently and passionately on the rich history of the church, starting with its first location on Highlawn Avenue in 1929, led by our first priest, Father Vasilios Michalopoulos, whose daughter and granddaughter, Mary and Susan Jannace, were present tonight. Father Eugene revealed the little-known fact that the name Three Hierarchs was inspired by the first names of three Greek immigrants who approached the Archbishop and expressed their desire to establish a new Greek church in Brooklyn. A display of nostalgic memorabilia right outside the hall included the Fiftieth Anniversary Dance Journal, which is packed with photos and historic information, and excerpts of which are available elsewhere on this website, and which featured photos of Father Michalopoulos, Father Angelo Gavalas, Father Sideris and many other important figures.

Friday, January 30th, 2009The Annual Philoptochos Luncheon
On Monday, January 19, 2009, at the Russo’s on the Bay, approximately 200 guests attended this year’s luncheon, they enjoyed delicious food, outstanding entertainment, and beautiful raffle prizes.
Many thanks to the efforts and contributions of Philoptochos President Effie Paraponiaris, Luncheon Chairladies Eleni Lambrakis and Maritsa Konstas, and many others who made this event a success.
Entertainmwnt was provided by singer Aphrodite Daniel and her accomp who provided Greek dance music and a sister act, who did an impersonation, even roped in Father Eugene, Father John and church President Harry Lambrakis into their act.
